Redraft value expires at the end of the season

A redraft deal should price the usable weeks that remain, not name value accumulated over a career. Current role, health, team scoring environment, and playoff schedule matter more than long-term upside. Future rookie picks and age insulation have no place in a normal seasonal league.

Early in the season, managers can buy uncertain roles before they become obvious. Near the trade deadline, certainty and playoff-week lineup impact deserve more weight because there is less time for a slow bet to recover.

Count points entering the lineup, not points entering the roster

A two-for-one return may look larger on a value chart while producing fewer starting points. Identify the player each incoming asset replaces. If one becomes a bench option, discount that portion of the package.

Replacement test

Compare the outgoing starter with the best incoming starter plus the improvement created at the second lineup spot. Ignore bench points that never become startable decisions.

Schedule is a tiebreaker, not the entire case

Matchups can break a close decision, especially during fantasy playoff weeks, but projections several weeks out remain uncertain. Buy stable volume first. Use schedule, bye weeks, and opponent strength to separate otherwise similar players rather than to justify a major tier jump.

Availability risk becomes more expensive as weeks disappear

  • Confirm whether an injury affects workload or merely efficiency.
  • Price committee backs by the touches they can realistically retain.
  • Separate one-week injury replacements from season-long roles.
  • Keep enough depth to survive byes after a consolidation trade.

A five-step redraft trade check

  1. Switch the analyzer to Redraft and confirm scoring.
  2. Identify which incoming players start immediately.
  3. Compare stable opportunity before recent touchdowns.
  4. Check bye weeks and playoff schedule as tiebreakers.
  5. Review injury and role news before accepting.

Put the framework to work

Change the league settings, build both sides, and inspect the value gap before you send the offer.
